Barn in the Fells: Lauren and Cameron - July 2024
Weddings by Annabel has the absolute pleasure of managing weddings at this stunning Lake District weddings and what a true delight it is! This wedding was coordinated by our lovely Lindsey and really showed off the venue…
The weather was tropical rain showers in the morning followed by absolutely glorious sunshine in the afternoon! Barn in the Fells has the perfect spot for this though as inside is rustically beautiful then there are gardens and a pretty yard to sunbath in.
Milk and Cuddles Photography said “Lindsey was a legend on the day - such a pleasure to work with from our point of view. So accommodating and couldn’t have done more to help us get the shots.”
Lauren, Bride, said “We had the absolute best time!! I don’t think we will ever get over how amazing our day was! Biggest thank you to Lindsey for everything she did! She made me feel so at ease! Our guests had an absolute ball too, I’ve heard ‘best wedding I’ve ever been to’ quite a few times. I hope they weren’t too wild!”
How did you find working with Weddings by Annabel for your wedding?
“Very informative with all things wedding but also open to my ideas and gave me her opinion if what I was thinking wouldn’t quite work or needing adapted. Felt very at ease when talking to Annabel and felt like I could ask her anything. She gave me lots of advice about budgeting before we had even booked which helped us realistically think if Barn in the Fells would work for us cost wise.”
What was the most difficult part of planning a wedding?
“Remembering that the day is about us and not about what everyone else wants as people like to give opinions on your day. I became very good at ignoring everyone!! Also, not really the planning but I had an allergic reaction in my eye on the Wednesday before the wedding which caused some serious stress as my eye was black but make up artists are amazing!! Didn’t think about it once after I walked down the aisle.”
What are your key memories from the day?
“From myself would be getting ready with the girls and both our mums, watching the pouring rain turn into glorious sunshine!! It actually felt like the weather changed just for us and it couldn’t of been any better. The table run after the meal was amazing and all our guests including us loved it. The whole venue was bouncing, can’t wait to see the photos from it! We also loved going down to the lake to get photos just the two of us, compliments to Hogg for going with us so we didn’t get lost. He was also very good at holding my dress.”
Would you change anything?
“Only thing I would change would be doing some of the DIY projects earlier as I had a mad rush three weeks before the wedding however, I do work well under pressure and just faff about if I have too much time on my hands. So pros and cons of doing it that way.”
How was having Lindsey there throughout the event?
“Lindsey was great the day before as she made sure I had thought everything through and made me feel at ease about the things that needed done the morning of the wedding when I wasn’t there. She was also great at doing the walk through with the wedding party the day before and made my bridesmaids feel more confident about walking down the isle. Couldn’t of asked for anyone better on the day of the wedding, she communicated so well with the suppliers and key moments of the day just happened without me even noticing. She even let me sit and eat my dessert in the staff room and enjoy 5 minutes of peace before I returned to the party!!”
What advice would you give others planning a DIY style wedding?
“Make a budget and stick to it, spreadsheets are your best friend. Make a checklist on your phone for all the DIY jobs, ‘wedmin’, things to buy so that you have it handy and it makes you feel like you are making progress by ticking things off. I bought lots of things on Facebook market place, Home Bargains, Shein, Ikea as you want items that look good but don’t cost a fortune as it adds up when you have to times it by the number of tables that you have. Don’t be scared to do your own flowers, I used dried flowers and made my bouquets, table centre pieces, milk churns, button holes and random vases around the venue and it cost approx £500 which would be a fraction of a florist. Cricut machines are also great for personalised bits and signs.”
Have you feedback on the rest of your supplier team?
“I was so delighted with all my suppliers and felt they worked so well together. Everyone put so much love and dedication to our day and made us feel very special.”
Would you recommend Weddings by Annabel?
“Absolutely!! We know the Lake District fairly well but having a team that knows it inside out was so helpful. Both were great for recommended extra accommodation for our guests and thinking of how to entertain our guests the night before.”
